The Gourami, latest arrival to a brave new world, was found dead today, just centimeters away from the water that would have saved its life.
It had been under my care just short of 24 hours.
In other horrific news, a two-month old baby is lying in a neuro-vegetative state at hospital today after enduring agonizing violence at the hands of its crack-addicted teen parents. The infant's grandfather had recently tried to get child welfare to intervene but the agency had refused to take any measures, stating simply that the baby was not in danger.
In addition to injuries sustained after being repeatedly thrown against the wall, the infant showed signs of sexual abuse.
The parents are still at large and no charges have been laid.
Tha flaming Gourami will have to wait.
